Just Do It.

My marathon running buddy and I
in the last leg of the Tri-U-Mah.

Monday morning my alarm went off at 5 a.m. Not because I had to get to work early or take a friend to the airport, but because I voluntarily signed myself up for Twin Cities Marathon.  In efforts to have a social life this time around I have been trying to embrace the idea of early morning runs.  About half way through my hour-long run, I was struggling with the motivation to continue these early morning jaunts. And then I finally understood what Nike was trying say all these years.

Summer Seasons Greetings

When people in Minnesota say that one thing they love about their great state is the fact they get to see all four seasons, they are lying. We get enjoyable summers, which are probably spent on or near the lakes.  My favorite season, the fall, and then the seemingly never-ending winter.  Spring, the mythical fourth season is something that Minnesotans seldom, if ever get to experience.

Tapas Noche!

Barb demonstrating she can sate her large
appetite at a small cost in Croatia.

As former college students, most of us are familiar with the expression, “Drinking your dinner.”  With limited monies, you might have had to choose if you want to spend your meager income on dinner or the $1 Busch Lights.  As an older, wiser consumer of alcoholic beverages I can now tell you that there is something systematically wrong with the serving of American cocktails.

Spring: new relationships blossoming

It is an unproven fact that more relationships will sprout during spring and summer than any other time of the year. My best guess, it has nothing to do with the blossoming of flowers and everything to do with the wilting away of warm weather wear.

Aboot Oot and Aboot

When I was little I used to think I was going to marry Prince William.  Don't judge me, he was foxy back in his younger years, so why would I turn down his offer?  Fact is, when you are young you think you’ll grow up to be incredibly rich and famous.  But the more we grow into our awkward bodies and become aware of life outside of Henry Sibley High School we start thinking of ourselves as “normal” or “average.”
